LOOKING FOR CHAMPIONS!
If you’ve ever thought about stepping forward now is the time. The fall auction raises nearly 40% of the PTO budget. Planning for fall has stalled pending a leadership committee. We need of 3-5 parents to organize and facilitate the event. Individual duties that need to be completed include invitations & marketing, food & decorations, acquisitions and close administration. If we do not have volunteers by May we will cancel the 2015 auction. That will seriously jeopardize PTO funding for our next school year. Help save our enrichment activities! Those interested should contact Jen Sauld (jennifersauld@gmail.com) or Jimmy Simonte (jimmy.simonte@gmail.com, cell:734-358-0095).

2015 Haisley Walkathon News

Hello Haisley Families:
The 2015 Haisley Walkathon is just around the corner!  This year the event is scheduled forThursday, May 21st. The lower el will walk from 9:30-11:30am and the upper el will walk from 1:30-3:30pm.  WE NEED YOUR HELP to make this event a success. Here are a few ways you may be able to help:

1)  CORPORATE DONATIONS:  Currently, I am soliciting local business to see if they can make cash donations towards our event.  Last year we raised almost $4k before the walkathon took place.  We used this money to cover the costs of t-shirts and other event day costs.

2)  VOLUNTEERS:  Please consider volunteering for this event.  Mark your calendar and let me know if you are interested in counting laps, preparing for the event on race day, and also cleaning up once the event is over!

3)  SOLICIT CASH DONATIONS:  Every child will be sent home with an envelope requesting they raise money for the event.  Last year, we almost raised $19k.  This year, we hope to raise over $20,0000.  Please ask neighbors, friends, and family to support your child's efforts.  We will be offering on-line donations this year, so it will make it easier to donate!

Any questions?  Would you like to volunteer?  Do you have a company that would like to make a donation?  Please contact Susan Courtright:  susanmidwest@aol.com

Go Huskies!

It’s never too cold to think about ice cream
Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about (and planning) Haisley’s annual Ice Cream Social. This end-of-the-year celebration is one of our most popular community events. It takes an enormous number of volunteers to make it happen. We are looking for a co-chair who has been a Haisley parent for at least one year. One parent has already stepped up to help run this year’s social and we also have last year’s chair as a mentor. Please email Jen Sauld at jennifersauld@gmail.com if you can serve as a co-chair this year!

Haisley Yearbooks!
Yearbook order forms will be going out to families in early March with a deadline on orders of April 1st. We wanted families to know that this year there will be a cost associated with the orders. The cost will depend on a few factors: total number of orders, ads that are purchased by businesses and families, and printing costs. The hope is that the cost for each student will be between $8-$9.
Have you taken pictures at Haisley events or in your child’s classroom? If so, please forward them to the yearbook team at haisleyyearbook@gmail.com

Are you a business or family and have interest in ad space?  Here’s your chance to get some great publicity! Please contact the yearbook team at haisleyyearbook@gmail.com.

Ad options include:

1/8 page: $25 (business card size)

¼    page: $50

Friday, Jan. 30 was the last day at Haisley for our beloved Media Specialist, Kim McLean.  The students gathered in front of the Media Center at the end of the day (all 408!) to clap her out!  Mrs. McLean has taken a new job at Clague Middle School. We congratulate her on her new position there. Those middle school students are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented media specialist! Mrs. Marcia Boik has taken her place through the end of the school year. Mrs. Boik is a certified teacher and has taken off running here at Haisley.  Please help us welcome her to Haisley!

PTO Survey - Last Call to be Heard
We want to hear from you! Each year the staff and PTO at Haisley field a host of questions regarding food in the classroom. To help establish a baseline for public opinion we've created a community survey. The last page includes a few additional questions about our communication tools. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Once collected, results will be shared with the entire community.

HAISLEY PLAYERS DESIGN CONTEST WINNER

The Haisley Players just announced the winner of the Schoolhouse Rock LIVE! Jr. design contest. It was a very tough a decision. There were 17 creative and amazing entries this year! The winning design was by Ava Prude from Ms. Harris' 4th grade class. Ava's design will be used on the T-shirts, posters, and program covers for this year’s production. She will receive a free T-shirt once they are printed. Congratulations, Ava!

The Haisley Players were very happy with ALL of the contest entries. They would like to thank everyone who entered. Great work everyone!!
Borrowed Clothes from the Office
If your child has borrowed clothes, (pants, sock, or what have you), from the office please be sure to clean them and return them as soon as possible.  Now that the cold wet weather is here you would be amazed at the number of clothes we hand out everyday.  If we do not get the  clothes we lend out back, it means either a child must sit in cold, wet clothes or, a call home needs to be placed.  Please try to remember to clean and return the clothes back to the office.  We can always use sweet pants and socks if you have any that you are no longer using!
