News Blast: 1/12/2015

NWEA Testing
NWEA testing will take place throughout the month of January for all K-5 students.  This "mid-year" test will give teachers more accurate data regarding the progress made by each student, compared to September.  Your child's teacher will let you know when their specific test dates are.

ASSEMBLY HONORING DR. KING
Friday, January 16 from 2:30-3:15.  All families are welcome.  Students will sing freedom fighter songs, recite poetry, and watch inspiring video about civil rights.

How do you celebrate your family’s heritage?
The PTO would like to invite you to share the traditions that represent your culture at the annual Haisley Heritage Festival on Thursday, Jan. 29.  We are looking for presenters willing to host a table featuring a unique dish, activity, or craft from 6-8 pm.  Please consider giving some of your time to help make this a fun event by signing up using the link here. Haisley Players Rehearsal Schedule
The Haisley Players rehearsal schedule will be posted on the main page of Haisley Elementary School Players every Sunday night by 7 p.m.  A friendly reminder that children must be picked up promptly by 5 p.m. from rehearsals.  

Lower elementary grades participation forms will be going in backpacks this week to be returned by Friday, Jan. 16.  You can also access the forms by printing them here Permission Slips & Forms.

Donations for indoor recess
We're looking for gently used board games, cards or toys for indoor recess use.  There is a box in the office for donations. Thanks!

 Save the date: Dough Night is Thursday the 22nd
Your locally owned and operated stores in Ann Arbor are very motivated to support your school by helping raise money for the much needed programs and supplies. The best part is we developed a fun and easy way for you to participate.  All you need to do is eat delicious Domino’s Pizza and Domino’s will DONATE 25% OF YOUR NET SALE back to your school. Your local Domino’s is donating all of the profits from your order and matching it. Haisley Heart Dance
The Haisley Heart Dance is scheduled for Friday, February 6th  from 6-8pm.  The dance will take place in the multi-purpose room, and other activities will take place in the lobby and gym.
We will have dancing, face painting, concessions, and basketball in the gym along with a few other surprises.  All proceeds benefit 5th grade camp.  The fee is $5 per person or $20 per family.

Kindergarten and Young Fives Round-Ups provide families the opportunity to learn more about these programs, and enrolling your student. Meet the principal and staff.
