News Blast: 12/1/2014

Message from Principal Bruder
Hi Haisley Families,
It has been wonderful being at your school, getting to know your children and interacting with parents and staff.  I know how proud you are of the strong community of learners you have built over the years.

The “I Am Thankful For…” assembly was outstanding.  It is obvious how much the Kindergarten and Young 5 students look to their 5th grade buddies for support and friendship.

Thank you for welcoming me into your school community.  If you see me in the halls or lunchroom, please stop me and introduce yourself.  I will be at the PTO meeting on Thursday and look forward to meeting some of you there.

Yours,
Shelley Bruder
“Substitute” principal

More Little Free Libraries for Haisley Community
We are pleased to announce that several Haisley neighborhoods will have Little Free Libraries installed. Earlier this fall, the PTO contacted the teacher of Skyline High School’s engineering class. Two students stepped forward to take this project on. They have since been awarded a $2,000 grant from the AAPS Educational Foundation. The students have created an online survey to gauge how much the libraries have impacted households. If you have used a Little Free Library, please take a few minutes to fill out their survey here.

In November, Superintendent Swift presented her "State of the District" address to the Ann Arbor School Board. Follow this link to see a copy of her presentation.

The Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA) wants to give Michigan kids an opportunity to get out, have fun and get healthy this winter. This is why MSIA has established a state-wide program that provides every fourth and now also 5th grader in Michigan the opportunity to ski for free. Students can obtain a “Cold is Cool” Ski & Ride Passport that gives them up to three free lift tickets or trail passes at 27 participating ski areas, plus additional discounts on the slopes and in Michigan ski shops.  Check it out here!
